You asked about the what I call the green factor in Real estate. I have been adding data to the Multiple listings system (I started with Portland's) so that it would be more likely for Realtors and appraisers to do a proper evalaution of a house's worth. Before that additionaql data was there I was about to establish a general mark up for a greened home but it was very labor intensive.
Things that are valued all the way through a real estate transaction are things associated with energy consumption~ your heating, your cooling, your appliances and your building envelope.
Things that have value and may not get reflected in the price are all of the other green factors. This part is more market driven and less quantifiable. There are many people trying to evauate the additional green factors. It has not yet been done in a way that is readily translated into the real estate market.
Your work sounds very interesting. Of course I know who is in the picture. I am a scientist myself. Its interesting that his wife was also a scientist. Yes, I'd love to see the device you mention. I hope our next home will have supplemental energy sources.
